NYC After Dark

Commissioned by Sony to photograph a New York most people don’t see, Katya followed the city’s downtown nightlife through clubs, close encounters, elaborate self-invention and the journey home. Moving between portraiture, fashion detail and motion-blurred atmosphere, the series stays close to the people and clothing that made this temporary world feel intimate, electric and collectively created after dark.

Beyond the Sony commission, Katya photographed nightlife as an evolving downtown community: friends, performers, designers and beautiful strangers making themselves visible after dark.
