KATYA MOORMAN IS
INTERESTED IN WHAT
FASHION VALUES
WHAT IT COSTS
& WHAT IT COULD BECOME

Designer, editor, writer and educator working across campaigns,
criticism, storytelling and curriculum.

ABOUT

Katya Moorman is a visual maker, editor and educator whose work argues—through campaigns, criticism and curriculum—that fashion’s most powerful aesthetic tools deserve more responsible stewardship. With Karen L. Dunn, she co-founded No Kill Magazine and No Kill: Project Planet, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit member of the UN Fashion and Lifestyle Network.

Her editorial work and campaigns, including “Is This a Luxury Item?”, have been quoted in Vogue Business and Sourcing Journal. She teaches in the graduate fashion and communications design programs at Pratt Institute, and has moderated conversations for the UN Fashion and Lifestyle Collective and the New York Fashion Innovation Center. She holds an MFA in 2D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Before No Kill, Katya spent nearly a decade photographing New York street and nightlife culture. That archive—more than 25,000 images—became StyleDefined NYC and is where her eye was made. i-D Magazine described the site as developing a cult following among New York’s “riotous underground tribe” through its mix of style, nightlife and personal point of view.
